Why AEC

The same family since 1991.

We started in 1991 as an Albany energy-engineering firm serving businesses and municipalities. In 2011 we launched AEC Solar to bring that same expertise to homeowners across New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.

Every system is engineered in-house, we're not tied to any one equipment brand, and we service what we install.

The Math

Your electric bill is rent.

Twenty-five more years of payments are coming either way. The utility sets its price — a system you own sets yours. We've engineered it that way since 1991.

Own the power you're already paying for.

How we figure this+

Assumes a system designed to cover about 95% of your usage — real-world targets vary with roof and shading — with utility rates rising 4.5% per year, in line with recent New York trends. These are marketing estimates, not a proposal; we'll model your exact numbers, free. Incentive programs vary and change — we'll confirm exactly what applies to you.

Straight Answers

The questions people actually ask.

Is solar still worth it?+

For most New York homes, yes — and we'll tell you honestly if it isn't for yours. Incentive programs come and go, but the core math doesn't depend on them: utility rates keep climbing, and you'll buy power for the next 25 years either way. We'll model your exact numbers, free — including if the answer is “not yet.”

What happens when the grid goes down?+

Grid-tied solar shuts off in an outage — it's a safety requirement. Pairing solar with a well-designed battery keeps your essentials running automatically. AEC Solar designs battery backup around your home, not around one brand.

What does it cost — and is $0 down real?+

It depends on your home, usage, and roof — which is why we size the system before we talk price. You can pay cash, finance with a loan, choose a monthly lease, or use AEC's prepaid lease. All four are real; each fits different goals, and we'll show you the honest math on each.

Will you still be around to honor the warranty?+

That's the right question to ask any installer. AEC Solar has been family-owned and independent since 1991, and backs every install with a 10-year workmanship warranty. The company behind your warranty matters as much as the warranty.
